22 years of action

Our history

Founded on December 31, 2004 in Lomé, ASI-TOGO is celebrating this year its 22 years of action in the field. From its beginnings as a mutual aid association to its current role as operator of a Medical-Social Center (CMS), the NGO has evolved around one conviction: investing in childhood is investing in the future of Togo.

  1. Dec. 31, 2004
    Founded in Lomé

    Constitutive General Assembly of ASI-TOGO as a mutual aid association.

  2. 2010 → 2015
    Structure & programs

    International volunteering, partnerships (Belgium, ASI-Europe), sponsorships.

  3. 2016 → 2022
    The CMS becomes the core

    The Medical-Social Center is consolidated as the flagship and sustainable activity.

  4. 2026
    A fresh momentum

    Path to financial balance, web rebuild, reinforced transparency and stronger resource mobilisation.

Legal framework

Governance

ASI-TOGO is governed by its official Statutes (2025 version) and an Internal Rules document, in compliance with the French law of 1 July 1901 on the contract of association.

Three statutory bodies
  • General Assembly — supreme body, meets once a year
  • Board of Directors — 5 elected members (Chair, Secretary General, Treasurer, 2 advisors), 2-year mandate renewable once
  • Executive Direction — appointed by the Board, supervises staff on job descriptions

Trust

Financial transparency

Our internal rules for handling funds are written into the Statutes and Internal Rules. They ensure a prudent and traceable use of resources.

  • Mandatory dual bank signature (Executive Director + Chair, or Treasurer) for any withdrawal
  • Annual vote of year-end accounts and the forecast budget by the General Assembly
  • Any donation likely to harm ASI-TOGO is rejected
